AXIS is an imaginary line passing through the centre of a body.

AXIS is a lengthwise central line or part around which parts of a body are symmetrically arranged.

AXIS is a real or imaginary straight line passing through a body that actually or supposedly revolves upon it.

AXIS is the second cervical vertebra; which provides the pivot upon which the atlas (1st cervical vertebra,) and with it the skull, rotate.
